We refer to ourselves as Christian Political Refugees out of California, but not the wishy/washy establishment RINOs that we left behind. And please, don't get us wrong, we left many good people behind that are still trying to hold the line, however fragile that line may be. We were activists in getting local conservatives elected, in the State of Jefferson movement to create a 51st State and divorce our northern Counties from Sacramento and the rest of the liberals. Both of us were active in the Yuba-Sutter Constitutional Republicans, a sister group to the California Republican Assembly. Becky was a committeewoman for the Sutter County Republican Central Committee and Bill served as Yuba-Sutter Regional Director for the Impact Republicans. Both of us served in the Sutter Buttes Tea Party Patriots and Bill chaired the organization the last 3 years we were there. We fought hard against the liberal establishment that was and still is embedded in governmental and private affairs but after more than a decade we realized that it was like pushing a rope uphill. After mostly uneducated and unaware people elected 2 more progressive democrats to the State House in the November election of 2020, we'd had enough and shortly after the election followed friends here to the reddest part of one of the reddest States and never looked back. The Hollister area is now our home and Oliver Township is our link to a better place. We've been here nearly 6 years now and it's time we brought our experience to bear and attempt to try to keep this area as conservative as possible, now and in the future.
What we see here are the precursors of what we saw in California. Little cooperation between conservative groups, slow responses, not enough engagement and people just not knowing what is coming. It wasn't that long ago that Missouri was a blue state and the people wisely rejected that. However, once the transformation was made, those that got us here are now mostly sitting on their hands. We must infuse our groups with more youthful advocates for Liberty, not that we are that, but we have the experience to imbue our groups with the ideas and methods we used to help get conservatives elected and we're not looking to be a dynasty. The one thing that stood out to us was that the TCRCC was meeting only every other month. We could understand that missing a meeting because of snow or falling near or on a federal holiday would be acceptable, but folks, we're in the middle of an election year. While they encourage all republicans to attend their meetings, updates to the public are few and far between. Their one big whoopty-doo for the yearly Lincoln Days, now known as the Liberty Rally was great but much more needs to be done. Twice monthly meetings would go a long way and having one in Branson and the other in Forsyth would be ideal for those of us living on the west side and make them more accessible to those that want to participate.
Our current Oliver Township committeeman and committeewoman have not been challenged for at least 14 years, at least SEVEN ELECTION CYCLES! One didn't even vote in the last election. That's what we mean by our Central Committee has become stale. It is high time for a change.
